Announcing Dr. Peter J. Utrata's Retirement
After more than 50 years of enriching the lives of our patients, Dr. Peter J. Utrata retired from his position with Arena Eye Surgeons in December of 2021. He is best known for his contribution in the development of the Utrata surgical instrument that nearly every cataract surgeon utilizes during a critical step in manual cataract surgery.
Dr. Utrata enjoyed mentoring younger physicians and he was the first surgeon in Ohio to implant the foldable intraocular lens during cataract surgery.
Honorably, he served the United States Army at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO, as the base ophthalmologist from 1972-1974.
Arena Eye Surgeon’s staff, doctors, and patients would like to thank Dr. Utrata for all his contributions in advancing eye care.
